Printable Version of the Cafateria News Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! We welcome our Cafeteria Manager, Mrs. Marci Steverson, and her staff, Ms. Carol Moore,
Ms. Sheila Dixon, Ms. Yvonne Caesar and Ms. Evelyn Wallace. The ladies are planning great things for our lunch meal program this year including new menu items, nutrition days, and special events.
Parents are reminded each week’s lunch menu is posted in the Blue Sheet In order to have the cafeteria run smoothly, we are asking for all students and parents to cooperate with the following few simple procedures: 1. Lunch may be paid on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis but must always be paid in advance. 2. While it is much easier for the cafeteria staff if you pay monthly, you may switch payment plans
to suit your needs, paying weekly one month, monthly another month, weekly the next, etc. Please note that you may send payments to school or make payments online by accessing the website, www.schoolfiles.com. 3. If you choose to send payments to school, the envelope must be marked with your child’s name, class code and cafeteria number. 4. If you have more than one child, you may send one payment. However, EACH child’s name, class code and cafeteria number must be marked on the envelope. 5. If you are paying by check and your last name is different from your child’s, please put your child’s name on the check as well as putting his/her name, class code, and cafeteria number on the outside of the envelope in which you send the check. 6. If you are paying weekly and your child is absent on Monday, you may pay on Tuesday when your child returns to school. 7. Parents may use ON-LINE PAYMENTS to lunch accounts. You may visit www.schoolfiles.com for information. 8. Students may use their lunch accounts to purchase extra items from the lunch serving line. Lunch consists of a full meal and milk but students may purchase extra food items (such as French fries), juice, bottled water, or extra milk. Juice or water purchased by children at lunch is an EXTRA CHARGE of 50 cents. If you request that the lunch account be used for regular lunch only, students will not be able to purchase extras or will have to pay cash for the extra items. 9. By law of the State of Louisiana, all Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade children must be served milk
with their hot lunch. The only exception to this is in the case of doctor-certified allergy to milk. In the case of allergy, the child may be served juice at no extra charge. Other children may purchase juice. 10 Diet prescription forms are available upon request and must be completed by your doctor or medical professional. You must provide a new form each school year. 11 Free/reduced meal applications have been distributed to each student. If you choose to apply, please return the completed form as soon as possible. If your child received free or reduced price meals last school year, you will need to complete a new form before September 1, 2010. 12. Again this year, the School Food Service Department of St. Dominic will be using an Accu-Scan
computer to record lunch participation and prepaid lunches for your children. This system is very accurate in keeping an up to date balance on your child’s account. 13. If a child forgets his/her lunch money and has no lunch money balance recorded on the computer, he or
she will be served lunch on that day and will be given a notice that the lunch fee is due. The student should bring the money to school the FOLLOWING DAY. In the event the student incurs a negative balance of more than $5.00, the parent will be called to bring the student’s lunch or money. 14. Parents who wish to have lunch with their child are asked to call the cafeteria to make a reservation
(488-4971) the morning they plan to be here. In order for the cafeteria staff to prepare enough food for all students, staff and visitors, it is important that visitors call and add their lunches to the count for the day. The cost for an adult lunch is $3.50 and payment (exact change, please) is accepted at time of the visit or you may charge the lunch to your child’s account. Please make a note of the following prices. You may choose the payment plan that most suits your needs. While the cost of the lunch per day is listed below for your information, the minimum payment plan is weekly.
Please note that the weekly and monthly payment amounts are subject to change as holidays occur. The proper payment amounts are published in the Blue Sheet on a weekly and monthly (Blue Sheet immediately preceding the first of each month) basis. At the end of the school year, any unused funds will returned to you or the balance can be carried over to the next school year. MAKE A NOTE: There is a $20.00 charge to any parent whose check is returned by the bank for insufficient funds. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call the cafeteria at 488-4971 or email at or the school office at 482-4123. |
